The Golden Dome sits atop the Administration Building on the campus of the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame Indiana. The Golden Dome is indeed painted with 24-karat gold leaf paint which was last gilded in 2005 at a cost of $409,000. The Dome’s circumference is 139 feet while its’ height is 225 feet including the statue. The statue is 19 feet tall and weighs 4,400 pounds. In 1978 the Administration Building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
