The Sacred Heart Basilica is located on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. The basilica serves as both a place of worship for those on campus, but also serves as a local parish for worshipers in St. Joseph County, Indiana. This particular photo is extremely unique in that the photo was captured after the funeral of Pope John Paul II, during the Conclave of Cardinals. As a result of the significance of these events, the yellow and white papal bunting is displayed in the basilica to honor the forthcoming papacy.
