The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located on the campus of the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame Indiana. The beautiful artistry that you are enjoying in this photograph was hand painted by Luigi Gregori, Notre Dame’s first Artist-in-residence. Gregori was recruited from the Vatican by the founder of the University of Notre Dame, Father Sorin. The uniqueness of this particular photograph is that it was taken from the vantage of the choir loft which is strictly “off limits” to most worshipers and visitors.
